A football physio's field notes: one thing common to injured youth players

Hi,

When I've treated young footballers in the clinic, injuries have been varied. Ankle sprains, knee pain, stress fractures, ACL tears.

But one thing is almost always the same.

The kid is regarded as a hard worker. Never skips practice. Does extra on their own. And that extra work is usually 100 jumps every single day 'to get more explosive', or hundreds of repetitions of the same technique drill, over and over, in a quiet backyard with no defender, no pressure, no decisions to make.

I can appreciate the amount of work they put into their career ambitions. But it ends in injury far too often. Long-term stress injuries, or sometimes acute injuries that a better training load management would have prevented.

All those extra reps aren't even making them better at the game. They are getting better at drills. And drills don't transfer. Not to a chaotic match where the information is always different, the pressure is real, and there's no coach telling them what to do.

So the problem isn't effort. It's environment design.

That is exactly what I build the Backyard Lab for.

It's a 4-week live programme for 5 parents. We start with a personal audit. You send me a short video of your child's current practice setup, and within 48 hours I send you a video back identifying the specific gaps in their environment and three immediate changes you can make this week.

Then, over 4 weeks, we build it properly. The perception training, the load management, the sideline approach, the 10-year roadmap.

Founder pricing is $495. I am taking 5 families into this first cohort, and I will not run it at this price again.

If you want in, read the full details here and join before it fills:
